Peking University Honorary Doctorate for Professor Muhammad Yunus

In yet another considerable international recognition, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, is about to be conferred with an honorary doctorate from Peking University of China. 

The announcement was made by the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, at a briefing on Sunday. Younus, who won the Nobel Prize for his pioneering works in microfinance, is to attend China on 26 March 2025, to receive this honor.

It is also during this visit that Yunus is expected to make an important address at the prestigious Peking University, an academic institution in China. The next day, specifically on 27 March, he will speak to the world audience at the Boao Forum for Asia, a significant congregation graced by major political leaders and CEOs from leading companies. Professor Yunus' speech at the forum will revolve around "Asia's evolving role" in global economics and international cooperation, further accentuating the increasing importance of the region in the world arena.

This visit is being confirmed by Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary, to be because of the meeting between the Chief Adviser and the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, who visited to discuss the visit. The aim of the visit is also to advance the partnership link between Bangladesh and China and stress the educational cooperation, development, and economic growth areas.

This honorary doctorate is a very significant achievement for Professor Yunus while proving his global impact in the context of social entrepreneurship and sustainable development. His tie with the Boao Forum serves to further cement his profile as a key personality in international development debate.

Through his sustainable endeavors, Yunus is expected to promote the development agenda of Bangladesh while contributing to the global discourse on poverty reduction, financial inclusion, and social entrepreneurship.
